Oil-Free Bushings

Oil-free bushings run without lubrication lines — solid lubricant embedded in the bearing wall feeds the sliding surface continuously.

What are oil-free bushings?

An oil-free (self-lubricating) bushing is a bronze or steel-backed bearing with graphite or other solid-lubricant plugs embedded in its running surface. As the shaft moves, a transfer film forms, so the bearing operates maintenance-free at high load and low-to-moderate speed — ideal inside moulds, fixtures and machines where re-oiling is impractical.

Typical materials

High-strength bronze (often with embedded graphite), steel-backed variants, and polymer-lined types for lighter duties.

How do oil-free bushings work without lubrication?
